Jean Whitehead MA, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA

Jean Whitehead is a highly experienced behavior consultant who has been working professionally in animal training and behavior since 1985. Her career began with formal training at Moorpark College’s Exotic Animal Training and Management Program and expanded into work with a wide range of species in zoos, aquariums, and the entertainment industry—giving her a uniquely deep understanding of how animals learn and respond to their environments.
Since 1994, Jean has focused her work on helping families and their dogs live together more successfully. Over the course of her career, she has taught thousands of group classes and worked privately with hundreds of clients, with particular expertise in reactivity and more complex behavior concerns. She is also one of a small number of certified behavior consultants in Washington State.
Jean’s work is grounded entirely in force-free, reward-based training. She focuses on identifying what is driving the behavior and teaching both dog and owner how to move forward with clear, practical, humane solutions —building lasting change without the use of fear, pain, or intimidation.
What sets Jean apart is her ability to translate that science into real life. Every plan she develops is tailored to the individual dog and the unique dynamics of the household—no templates, no one-size-fits-all programs. Her goal is not just to change behavior, but to help clients feel confident, capable, and supported as they build a better relationship with their dog.
Whether she is guiding a new puppy owner or helping a family navigate serious behavioral challenges, Jean brings a rare combination of technical expertise, practical experience, and genuine care—making lasting change not only possible, but achievable.
